Energy

Seattle once led the nation in creating renewable electrical energy, hydropower. The visionary leadership the first City Light Superintendent J. D. Ross and his patriarch, Mayor Hiram C. Gill the created Cedar River and Diablo Dams - giving Seattle the lowest, most abundant electrical power in nation. Seattle could lead the nation today in renewable energy but we do not. Only because leadership is missing from City Hall. As a city councilmember I woud support efforts to hire the top engineer in renewable power development.

As a councilmember, I would pass a budget for City Light to develop additional, renewable energy resources, such as: solar, wind, tidal and geothermal generation. I will pass energy conservation incentives for Seattle ratepayers. We should and can double power generation by Seattle City Light in the next two decades. We can do it without creating more pollution and it would hold down electrical rates.
