Transportation

Not too long ago, Seattle's transportation system was functional. You could get anywhere in the city on street cars or rail transit. People also used buses, ferries and passenger cars to get around locally. Leadership by Judge Thomas Burke (1849-1925), Mayor Gordon S. Clinton and City Councilman George Benson gave us urban transportation assets we can still use today. But Seattle's transportation system is broken and in gridlock as we lose ground everyday to come up with solutions. Potholes remain unfilled, bridges crumbling, light rail and monorail never reach their promised destinations.

As a Councilmember I will vote to fund improvements in mass transit, city streets and bridges. I will support hiring the best engineers in the world to get the job done and transportation out of the political arena and onto the drawing boards.
